Privacy Policy
Ghost Writer by Berakah Labs inc. · Effective 13 October 2026.
Berakah Labs inc. publishes Ghost Writer. This policy explains how the desktop app and optional Ghost Writer Cloud service handle your information. Contact support@myghostwriteros.com for privacy questions or requests.
Your local writing and settings
Books, chapters, research, Story Memory, conversations, author profiles and settings are stored locally on your Mac or in a project location you choose. Ghost Writer does not synchronize manuscripts through the cloud. Backups and exports remain where you save them. Local AI processes the selected writing on your Mac. Model downloads reveal connection information to the file hosting service.
Deleting a project does not delete separate backups or exports. You control these copies. Cloud session credentials are kept in the operating system Keychain. Microphone and speech recognition require your permission; Apple may process audio and transcripts under its speech-recognition privacy practices. Ghost Writer does not retain audio recordings.
When information leaves your Mac
If you choose Ghost Writer Cloud and confirm the reviewed context, your prompt, selected manuscript and research context, and included conversation history pass through our Cloudflare-hosted service to Anthropic for an AI response. Our service does not store or log prompts or responses. Anthropic processes them under its commercial terms and data processing terms; its standard API retention is up to 30 days, subject to security or legal exceptions or a separately agreed retention arrangement. We do not promise provider zero retention without that arrangement.
Research searches send the query to public discovery services, including Wikipedia, Internet Archive, Gutendex and DuckDuckGo. Importing a web address requests the page from its host. These services receive ordinary connection information and handle requests under their own privacy policies. Only the imported content is saved in your local project.
We use Cloudflare to host the Cloud service and process technical request metadata, and Anthropic to provide Cloud AI responses. We process requests to provide the service you choose, use purchase records to fulfill purchases and maintain credits, and use limited technical records for security and service reliability. Where consent is required, you may withdraw it by stopping the relevant feature; this does not affect earlier lawful processing.
Apple purchases and Cloud Credits
Apple handles payment and provides signed transaction and subscription information. We do not receive your Apple Account password or payment-card details. The Cloud ledger uses a pseudonymous subscription transaction identity, a derived account token, verified pack transactions, credit grants, balances, refunds, usage costs and timestamps. Request and response text are excluded. Consumption information is supplied to Apple only with the stored consent required for that response.
Retention and your rights
Local data remains until you delete it. We retain Cloud purchase, credit and limited service records while needed to administer unspent credits, handle refunds, prevent abuse, and meet accounting or legal obligations. Service providers may process data internationally under their applicable safeguards. We do not sell manuscript content or use it to train our own models. We do not use advertising tracking in the app.
Email support@myghostwriteros.com to request access, correction, deletion or a copy of information we hold about you, or to ask about retention and international processing. We may need to verify the relevant transaction identity. Do not send passwords, payment details or unpublished writing for verification. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing and to complain to a privacy authority. Deleting server records may affect recovery of unused credits; we will explain the effect before carrying out a request. We will publish material policy changes here.
